Honey is one of nature’s effective and powerful beauty items that its potentials remain to be utilised. It’s commonly known for its use in foods as sweeteners or to bring out the flavour of a meal, but today, we are going to explore its beauty benefits for hair, skin and nail. Exfoliation
Honey has natural properties that help in exfoliating the skin. It can get rid of dead skin cells when used with a baking powder. The enzymes and antioxidants found in honey ensure the skin is properly cleansed, hydrated and nourished. You are left with nothing but radiant and attractive complexion. What you will need is 1 tablespoon of baking soda mixed with 2 tablespoons of honey with. Next, wet your body under the shower put off the shower and then rub in the mixture on your body especially the places that suffer from the deposition of dead skins. Wash off after 3 minutes for a beautiful radiant skin. If you have sensitive skin, wash off after 2 minutes.
Acne Treatment
Acne is one of the things that haunt the human race. It’s always a problem for many people especially people in their teens or those going through a phase in their life. With the discovery made about honey and its beauty treatment, acne won’t harass your life as it used to when you apply this method. The antifungal and antibacterial properties found in honey fight the bacteria that attack the skin and results in an acne breakout. Honey can also soothe the irritation and redness that comes with acne. For the acne treatment, dab raw honey and not processed honey with a napkin onto the acne affected areas and leave on for 10-15 minutes. After that wash off with very warm water.
As Hair Conditioner
If your hair is suffering from dullness and needs revitalization, look no further. Honey is perfect for bringing back shine to the hair. When mixed with coconut oil, the result is beautiful because coconut oil gives the hair cuticles life. You will need to mix 2 tablespoons of coconut oil with 1 tablespoon of raw honey. On a damp hair, apply the mixture to the hair from the root to the strands of hairs. You can cover your hair with a shower cap or leave it open for up to 20 minutes and wash off under the shower rinse off with warm water afterwards.
Scar Fading
Honey is quite effective in fading new and old scars. The lightening properties contained in honey are very effective in healing scars and regenerating tissues. When mixed with coconut oil also, and with continuous use, you will begin to notice some positive changes in the appearance of your scar. The mixture will consist of 1 teaspoon of coconut oil/olive oil and 1 teaspoon of raw honey. Rub in the mixture on the scar and massage in a circular motion for about a minute or two. Heat up a napkin or a washcloth in the oven to make it hot. Bring it out and place on the scar that has the mixture rubbed in and leave it on until the cloth cools down. After that rub or wash off the mixture. Repeat the same process on any other scar daily for two weeks for the awesome result.
As Hair Highlighter
Honey is good for highlighting the hair. It contains enzyme glucose which releases hydrogen peroxide that is a primary ingredient in hair lightening products. All you will need is 2 tablespoon of water and 3 tablespoons of raw honey. Dampen the hair with some water and apply the mixture. Leave it on for one hour and wash off afterwards. You can do this on a weekly basis.
Skin Moisturising Mask
Do you know that honey retains moisture in the skin by drawing air into the skin in a process called humectant. By so doing, it helps the skin retain or lock in moisture for long-lasting hydration. Apply a tablespoon of honey on a dry clean skin and let it sit for about 15-20 minutes. When you are done wash off with water.
As Cuticle Softener/Moisturizer
Because honey draws moisture from the air into the skin when applied, it does the same thing for nail cuticles particularly dry cuticles. For this, you will need coconut oil, apple cider vinegar. The vinegar helps in softening the cuticles and also in balancing the pH while the coconut oil conditions it. Get one teaspoon each of vinegar, honey and coconut oil and mix together. Rub into the cuticle and leave for 10 minutes before washing off. You will love how your cuticles look and feel afterwards.
Shampoo Booster
Because of the humectants effect honey has like we discussed above, honey when added to shampoo not only help retain moisture but also help the hair follicles to grow with health and vitality. For boosting your favourite shampoo, you will need to get a little size of your shampoo poured into a plastic. And then you mix with 1 teaspoon of honey and apply to your hair to form lather on your hair. Wash off like you would with your normal shampoo and style as usual. Your hair will look fuller and beautiful.
Pores cleaning
Honey has antibacterial properties that can cleanse the skin of bacteria leaving you with a clean and clear pore. When you have clean pores, you are less susceptible to breakouts and other skin problems caused by bacterial. You will need honey, coconut or jojoba oil for this mixture. Mix 2 tablespoons of coconut or jojoba oil to 1 tablespoon of raw honey until you achieve a smooth texture. Then apply generously on your skin and massage in a circular motion even on the face but not close to the eye area. This will be applied on a dry and not damp body. Your pores will thank you later.
